Trips out to the Alps are the best thing about the Club! Since there aren’t too many mountains around Cambridge, and Milton Keynes can get a little monotonous by the end of each term, we always get especially excited about our trips! We have three trips over the year: the Varsity Trip, BUSC Main Event and our Summer Trip.

Summer Trip

Our summer trip takes place usually every September at the glacier in Hintertux in Austria. It is a week long intensive race-training course, where we have received coaching from the likes of Chemmy Alcott and former US team coach Hugues Morand. It is a great chance to improve your racing and also to get to know everyone in the club. Increasingly, it has become the most important trip for the year ahead with CUSSC. Many members who had not raced before made a team at Varsity thanks to the summer trip.

BUSC Main Event

BUSC Main Event takes place over the Easter holidays. All of the university ski and snowboard clubs from different universities come together for a week of Slalom, GS and Skier-X/Boarder-X.  If you enjoyed Varsity and are a keen member of CUSSC you’re guaranteed to love BUSC. The level is very high, with many former national team members from other universities taking part. This year, Antoine Magre, came 3rd in the GS, and the team picked up a bronze in the Team Duals, our best set of results ever.

Varsity Trip

The Varsity Trip is undoubtedly the highlight of every CUSSC Member’s, and probably every student’s, year. A weeklong ski trip with all of your best friends after a hard term’s work is made even better as a member of CUSSC. Racers have the opportunity to head out three days early to train, freestylers can head to the park together, the mountain cruiser and beginner groups can go off skiing together and at the end of every day we can all come together as a club and go out to enjoy some drinks on CUSSC and the great nightlife that the Varsity Trip Committee has provided! It is a fantastic trip whether you are a seasoned racer or a first timer and is made even better if you are a member of CUSSC.
